A Glimpse into My Eco-Friendly Candle Journey

Hello lovely humans, and hello first blog post!

As the colder months roll in, I’m reminded of how much I cherish the little moments of warmth and comfort that my safe space brings me. Nestled at the top of the house in my cozy loft room in my parents' home, I’ve created a sanctuary—a space where I can escape, reflect, and unwind. And now, with the launch of my little handmade candle shop, I’m excited to share this with you.

So at first, I wondered what I could write about—not really what, but how. I wanted to tell you all about the ins and outs of this process so far, but… you see, I’m good at rambling and not very good at sticking to the point. So it goes a little like this:

For the Eco-Conscious Nerds and More

Sustainability has been at the heart of everything I do. From my eco-friendly products and my own eco friendly cleaning service business. To my everyday lifestyle choices, over the last 8 years, I’ve committed to living in harmony with the environment. Not only that, but I’m still on this journey - we get more sustainable every day, one step at a time. I remember being at the very beginning of this journey without a clue on how I could create a healthier, less toxic space around me, try and help the hidden illnesses, get rid of my allergies and especially on a budget! I believe that while eco materials tend to be more expensive, there’s no need for the extortionate pricing that can come with some labels.

That’s why these candles are so special to me—they’re more than just a beautiful scent in glass; they’re a reflection of my values and an extension of the eco-conscious choices we can all make. If I can help you reduce your toxic load by using clean candles in your space and increase your sustainable choices for the planet, then I will happy dance! I’d like to hope these candles are a stepping stone to help you on your way to being more mindful of what you have in your space and how it affects your and your family's overall health.

Why Coconut & Rapeseed Wax?

Each one of my candles is crafted with a blend of coconut and rapeseed wax, a natural alternative that’s cleaner-burning and more sustainable than traditional paraffin wax, and even more sustainable than soy.

Why Wooden Wicks?

The sound of a crackling wick transports me straight to my youth. I’ve always lived in a home without central heating and only crackling log burners for warmth… and boy, do I wish I could have a real log burner up here in the loft! With these crackling wood wicks, I get that subtle sense of a fireplace. Of course, it’s not as loud as a fireplace, as it’s only a single wick, but I can relax with a good book and forget the world with the little crackles and pops for a little while.

Wooden wicks are not just for the ambiance, though—they’re also an eco-friendly choice. Sourced from sustainable forests, these wicks are biodegradable and burn longer and cleaner than traditional cotton wicks, so there’s less soot in your airspace. In an upcoming post, I’ll share more about where these wicks come from, how they’re made, and why they’re a better option for the environment and your health.

Fragrance Oils or Essential Oils?

When I started creating these candles, I knew that the fragrance oils had to reflect my commitment to sustainability and clean living. While essential oils are the purest option, I understand that they don’t always suit every scent preference or budget. That’s why I’ve sourced the cleanest fragrance oils I could find—vegan, cruelty-free, and free from harmful chemicals like lilial, phthalates, parabens, nitro and polycyclic musks, silicones, PEGs, and acrylates.

Though fragrance oils will never be as clean as 100% essential oils, these fragrance oils are a great stepping stone toward a healthier, more eco-friendly home. By choosing these candles, you're reducing the most harmful toxins in your environment without compromising on scent. Of course I’ll be sharing so much more of my knowledge I've gathered across the years, about why it’s important to remove these harmful chemicals from your space, and how even small changes like this can make a big impact on your health and the planet.

Handmade from My Loft to You

Candles have always been a luxury item to me. We never really had them around as children (only the ones in case of a power cut!), and it wasn’t until I got older that candles became something gifted to me for celebrations like my birthday and Christmas—and I *loved* them.

In the last couple of years, candles made a huge leap in my life when I was selling other brands candles on commission, and I managed to earn myself a trip to Malta amongst that madness. I was so grateful, but slowly I moved away from those brands because I wasn’t totally aligned with their ethics and my eco nerd soul needed to have more control of the formula and creating. As I was getting awful allergies. Infact at one point we thought I was allergic to the cat ( poor tallulah!) but it turned out to be the candles. I didn't want to miss out on having candles in my loft room though So, in early 2024, I started to research for my own range…

Candle Collections with a Purpose

We’ve created one initial collection- our Classic Collection. These are our base fragrances that will be here all year round. There’s a great range for any nose. Whether you’re looking for a fresh, breezy fragrance that reminds you of clean laundry on a spring day or something warm and comforting like the embers of a fireplace, there’s a candle to suit every mood and space.

Moving forward, we’ll be releasing an Aromatherapy Collection, which will be made with 100% essential oils. Perfect for the super eco nerds. These candles bring the benefits of aromatherapy into your home, perfect for moments of mindfulness and relaxation. We’ll also be diving deeper into how we use essential oils, why they’re important, and the benefits they can bring to your wellness journey.

Supporting a Dream

These candles started as just a passion project, but they became part of something bigger. They became the hope to support my personal journey toward creating an eco-friendly home of my own. I’ve been dreaming of moving into my own space and out of my parents’ home for so long now, and with each candle sold, I will be one step closer to turning that dream into a reality.

As we head into these colder seasons, I know some of us get really sad when the sunshine disappears, so I wanted to share this warmth with you and the light it gives me. Candles are part of my daily ritual, whether it’s to create a calming atmosphere in my loft after a long day or to make my space feel more welcoming (and warm). I hope these candles can do the same for you, There are a good 5 months of chilliness ahead of us so now is the perfect time to create your own warmth, these candles are designed to bring peace, comfort, and sustainability into your life wherever your cozy corner may be.
